Component replacement procedures There are as many as 53 screws that must be removed, replaced, or loosened when servicing the computer.

Before removing the display assembly, follow these steps: Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
  • Page 60 Remove the four Phillips M2.5×6.5 screws that secure the display assembly to the keyboard/top cover. Swing the front edge of the keyboard/top cover (1) up and away from the display assembly. (The keyboard/top cover disengages from the display assembly hinges.) Separate the keyboard/top cover (2) from the display assembly.
  • Page 61 Secure the suction cups to the display assembly by swinging the handles (2) into position. Use a the suction cups (1) to separate the top edge (2) of the display panel assembly from the display back cover. Swing the top edge (1) of the display panel assembly up and forward until it rests upside down in front of the display assembly.
  • Page 62 Each time the display panel assembly is removed, thoroughly clean the adhesive residue from the surfaces of the display panel assembly (1) and the display back cover (2). Replacement adhesive is available using spare part number L97984-001. If it is necessary to replace the touch control board, follow these steps: Remove the display panel assembly.
  • Page 63 Detach the touch control board (4) from the display panel. (The touch control board is attached to the display panel with double-sided tape.) Remove the touch control board. The touch control board is available using spare part number L96505-001. If it is necessary to replace the sensor board, follow these steps: Remove the display panel assembly.
  • Page 64 Remove the display panel assembly. Release the grounding strip (1) that secures the display panel cable to the display panel. Release the adhesive support strip (2) that secures the display panel cable to the display panel. Disconnect the display panel cable (3) from the display panel. Disconnect the display panel cable (4) from the touch control board and the sensor board.
  • Page 65 Release the ZIF connector (2) to which the webcam module cable is connected, and then disconnect the webcam module cable from the webcam module. Remove the webcam module. The webcam module is available using spare part number L96495-001. Detach the webcam module cable (1) from the display back cover. (The webcam module cable is attached to the display panel with double-sided adhesive.) Remove the webcam module cable (2).

The display hinges are available using spare part numbers L96494-001 (for use only on computer models equipped with an FHD display panel assembly) and L98206-001 (for use only on computer models equipped with an HD display panel assembly). If it is necessary to replace the display hinge covers, follow these steps: Remove the display panel assembly.
  • Page 67 If it is necessary to replace the WLAN antennas, follow these steps: Remove the display panel assembly. Remove the right display hinge. Detach the antenna transceivers (1) from the display back cover. (The antenna transceivers are attached to the display back cover with double-sided tape.) Release the antenna cables from the routing channels (2) built into the display back cover.
