Safely Powering Down the B Class and C Class Workstation You must complete the following steps before performing any of the removal and replacement procedures: NOTE Remove any accessory bag(s) and their black tab screws, if present, from the rear of the workstation. 1.

Parts Removal and Replacement Terminators and Cables Terminators and Cables This section describes how to remove and replace the Terminators and Cables Removing the Terminators and Cables 1. After powering down the workstation as described in the “Getting Started” chapter, unplug the power cable from the back of the workstation.

Or, if you have already replaced either or both of the terminators with cables to external peripheral devices, replace those cables., LAN cable, USB cables, and any other cables from the back of the workstation.Refer to Figure 2-1 for location.
Parts Removal and Replacement Front Panel Front Panel This section describes how to remove and replace the Front Panel. NOTE Prior to removing the Front Panel, the Terminators and Cables need to be removed from the back of the workstation. See the appropriate section(s) for the steps on how to remove this component.
Replacing the Front Panel 1. Facing the front of the workstation, align the top and bottom hinge hooks on the left edge of the front panel with their respective holes in the chassis. Insert the hinge hooks into the holes. Figure 2-4.
Parts Removal and Replacement Left Side Panel Left Side Panel This section describes how to remove and replace the Left Side Panel. NOTE Prior to removing the Left Side Panel, the Terminators and Cables need to be removed from the back of the workstation. See the appropriate section(s) for the steps on how to remove this component.
Replacing the Left Side Panel 1. Replace the left side panel by holding it at an angle and inserting its top and bottom hinge hooks with their respective slots in the chassis. Swing the back edge of the panel toward the back of the workstation and press the panel firmly into place. Figure 2-6.
Parts Removal and Replacement Power Supply Power Supply This section describes how to remove and replace the power supply. NOTE Prior to removing the Power Supply, the Front Panel and the Left Side Panel need to be removed. See the appropriate section(s) for the steps to remove and replace these components.

Facing the opened side of the workstation, reach into the back of the CD ROM bay and connect the three cables (shown on the previous page): the CD ROM Drive power cable, the ATAPI data cable (the ribbon cable), and the CD ROM audio cable.

Parts Removal and Replacement Floppy Disk Drive Replacing the Floppy Disk Drive 1. Grasp the floppy disk drive/tray assembly and slide it into the floppydisk drive bay of the chassis. 2. Facing the opened side of the workstation, reach into the back of the floppy disk drive bay and connect the two cables (shown on the previous page): the floppy disk drive power cable and the ribbon cable.
Hard Disk Drive This section describes how to remove and replace the hard disk drive. NOTE Prior to removing the Hard Disk Drive, the Front Panel needs to be removed. See the appropriate section(s) for the steps to remove and replace this component.
Parts Removal and Replacement Hard Disk Drive CAUTION A drop of just a few inches onto a hard surface such as a desk or the floor can generate large accelerations (hundreds of G’s), which may damage the device. 2. Refer to the hard disk drive you just removed from the workstation. Remove the four screws securing the drive to the tray, and pull the drive straight up out of the tray.

Push the release lever up and in—you will notice that the hard drive’s connectors seat securely into the hard-disk backplane board at the back of the slot as the release lever is pushed home.
Parts Removal and Replacement I/O Fan and Speaker I/O Fan and Speaker This section describes how to remove and replace the I/O Fan and Speaker. NOTE Prior to removing the I/O Fan and Speaker, the Front Panel, Left Side Panel, Power Supply, and Air Divider need to be removed.
Removing and Replacing the Fan 1. Remove the fan from the bracket by slightly pulling the fan mounting clips away from the fan, and then pulling the fan outward. 2. Remove the new fan from its packaging. Install the new fan by positioning the fan power cable channel in the lower right corner of the fan and speaker mounting bracket.

Grasp the system-board tray handle and slide the system board tray toward the front of the workstation to unseat the keyhole standoffs on the floor of the chassis, underneath the board.
Replacing the System Board 1. Position the system board tray in the chassis. When it is flat in the workstation, align the system board tray’s keyholes with the standoffs on the side wall of the chassis, and then slide the system board tray toward the back of the workstation to seat the standoffs into their corresponding keyholes.
