Power management To reduce power consumption, the computer has three power management modes: screen blank, standby, and hibernation. Screen blank mode If the time set on the “Turn off monitor” timer in the operating system expires, the LCD backlight turns off. To put the computer into screen blank mode, press the ThinkVantage button and use the ThinkVantage Productivity Center.

Screw notices Loose screws can cause a reliability problem. In the ThinkPad computer, this problem is addressed with special nylon-coated screws that have the following characteristics: v They maintain tight connections.

v Make sure that you use the correct screw. If you have a torque screwdriver, tighten all screws firmly to the torque shown in the table. Never use a screw that you removed. Use a new one. Make sure that all of the screws are tightened firmly.

FRU replacement notices Retaining the UUID The Universally Unique Identifier (UUID) is a 128-bit number uniquely assigned to your computer at production and stored in the EEPROM of your system board. The algorithm that generates the number is designed to provide unique IDs until the year A.D.
