ENGLISH PREPARING FOR USE Machine Packaging The original packaging has been designed and constructed to protect the machine during transport. We recommend keeping the packaging material for possible future transport. Machine Installation Remove the drip tray with grill and the carafe from the packaging. Remove the machine from the packaging.

ENGLISH Lift the left outer lid. Remove the water tank by using the handle incorporated on the inner lid. Rinse the water tank with fresh water. Fill the tank with fresh drinking water up to the MAX level and place it back into the machine.
ENGLISH Insert the plug into the socket located on the back of the machine. Insert the plug on the other end of the power cord into a wall socket with suitable power voltage. Switch the power button on the back of the machine to “I” to turn on the machine.
ENGLISH The machine is in warm-up phase. HEATING UP… Automatic Rinse/Cleaning Cycle When warm-up is complete, the machine automatically performs a rinse/ self-cleaning cycle of the internal circuit with fresh water. This takes less than a minute. Place a container under the dispensing spout to catch the small amount of water which will be dispensed.
ENGLISH Manual Rinse Cycle You need to perform a rinse cycle when using the machine for the fi rst time. During this process, the coff ee brewing cycle is activated and fresh water fl ows through the dispensing spout. This takes a few minutes. Place a container under the dispensing spout.

ENGLISH When choosing the product, the machine asks you to confi rm that the ground coff ee has been inserted. Press the “ ” button. The machine will start dispensing water from the INSERT dispensing spout. ENGLISH At the end, fi ll the water tank again up to the MAX level. Now the ma- chine is ready for coff ee brewing. This icon will be displayed. Note: When you haven’t used the machine for 2 or more weeks, the machine will automatically perform an automatic rinse/self-cleaning cycle after you switch it on.
ENGLISH Measuring and Programming Water Hardness Water hardness measuring is very important in order to defi ne the machine descaling frequency and to install the “INTENZA+” water fi lter (for more details on the water fi lter, see next chapter). To measure the water hardness follow the steps below: Immerse the water hardness test strip (supplied with the machine) in water for 1 second.

ENGLISH Saeco Adapting System Coff ee is a natural product and its characteristics may change according to its origin, blend and roast. The machine is equipped with a self-adjusting system that allows the use of all types of coff ee beans available on the market except for caramelized and fl avoured coff ee beans.
ENGLISH The reference marks in the coff ee bean hopper compartment indicate the grind setting. There are 5 diff erent grind settings to choose from position 1 for coarse grind - lighter taste to position 2 for fi ne grind - bolder taste.
ENGLISH Adjusting the Dispensing Spout The height of the dispensing spout can be adjusted to better fi t the dimen- sions of the cups that you wish to use. Move the dispensing spout up or down with your fi ngers to adjust its height as shown in the image.

ENGLISH MILK CARAFE This chapter explains how to use the milk carafe to prepare milk-based beverages. Note: Before using the milk carafe, clean it thoroughly as described in the “Clean- ing and Maintenance” chapter. We recommend fi lling it with cold milk (approx. 5°C). Warning: Fill the carafe with milk for brewing beverages and with water for cleaning only.

ENGLISH CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE Daily Cleaning of the Machine Caution: Timely cleaning and maintenance of your machine is very important as it prolongs the life of your machine. The machine is continuously exposed to humidity, coff ee and limescale! The activities you need to perform and their frequency are described in detail in this chapter.

ENGLISH Empty the coff ee grounds drawer and wash it with fresh water. Empty the drip tray (internal) and the lid and wash them with fresh water. Correctly reinstall all the components. Insert the drip tray and the coff ee grounds drawer and close the ser- vice door.
ENGLISH Note: Perform this operation also when the full drip tray indicator is raised. Daily Cleaning of the Water Tank Remove the small white fi lter or the INTENZA+ water fi lter (if installed) from the water tank and wash both with fresh water. Put the small white fi lter back or the INTENZA+ water fi lter (if installed) in its housing by gently pressing and turning it at the same time.

ENGLISH Remove the suction tube (A). Remove the fi tting (B) from the milk frother by pulling it outwards. Detach the lid (C) from the milk carafe dispenser by slightly pressing on the sides while pushing downwards. Disassemble further the dispenser (D) as shown in the fi gure. Remove the fi tting (E) from the milk frothing device by pulling it out- wards.
ENGLISH Clean all the parts thoroughly with lukewarm water. Note: You can also clean these parts in the dishwasher. Reassemble the parts following the reverse order. Weekly Cleaning of the Brew Group The brew group should be cleaned every time the coff ee bean hopper is fi lled or at least once a week.

ENGLISH Seize the brew group handle and pull it outwards. While pulling the lever, remove the brew group. Thoroughly wash the brew group with lukewarm water and carefully clean the brew group fi lter. Caution: Do not use detergent or soap to clean the brew group. Let the brew group air-dry thoroughly.

ENGLISH Make sure the brew group is in the off position; the two reference signs must match. If they do not match, proceed as described in steps (12 and 13). Turn the brew group back to the off position by manually turning the pin on the base, as shown in this fi gure.
Monthly Cleaning of the Milk Carafe For the monthly cleaning cycle we recommend using the “Saeco Milk Circuit Cleaner” to keep the entire circuit clean of milk residues. The “Saeco Milk Circuit Cleaner” can be purchased separately. Please refer to the main- tenance products page for further details.

ENGLISH DESCALING The descaling process takes approx. 35 minutes. Limescale builds up inside the machine during use. It needs to be removed regularly as it may clog the water and coff ee circuit. The machine tells you when descaling is needed. If the machine display shows this icon, it means that you need to descale.

ENGLISH ENERGY SAVING Stand-by The Saeco full automatic espresso machine is designed for energy saving proven by the Class A energy label. After a certain time of inactivity that can be set by the user (see chapter “Machine Programming”), the machine turns off automatically. If a product has been brewed the machine performs a rinse cycle.
ENGLISH Disposal Do not throw away the machine with the normal household waste at the end of its life, but hand it in at an offi cial collection point for recycling. By doing this, you help to preserve the environment. Packaging materials can be recycled.
